Fast Fest...

On the same weekend last year the majority of modified car enthusiasts will have been gathered in Birmingham for the Max Power Live show at Birmingham NEC, for what was traditionally the biggest show on the calendar. However, times change and with Max Power Live moved into retirement, Fast Fest took the calendar date for a show at Santa Pod.

Whilst the show didn't quite measure up to the scale of what was the three days of Max Power Live mayhem, no-one really expected it to and we're sure Fast Fest never planned to rival it either, as maybe Max Power Live was too big and different to other shows for its own good (hence its downfall?) and instead of trying to be a replacement in every way shape and form, Fast Fest took its own take on how to put on a car show.

The results were quite impressive, with many unique attractions not seen at many other car shows so far this year. And with Santa Pod you also get the legendary drag strip action to compliment the show cars, girls and trade stands.

The show was quite well supported, both in terms of visitors and exhibitors. Fast Car magazine had a big presence at the show, due to their publishing group being the organisers of the show, and many other smaller trade stands stretched out alongside the drag strip in usual fashion.

But as with many other UK car shows so far this season, the rain had to play its part again, and with rainy days as far back as most people can remember at the moment, it was a wet and windy Santa Pod circuit that greeted visitors, making for muddy camp site fields and causing everyone to duck for cover a couple of times during the morning. However, the rain cleared up for the afternoon and the only element that was then left to deal with was the wind, which caused problems for a lot of girls and their hair!

All in all, a good little show for us to get our teeth in to, and hopefully Fast Fest will become a regular fixture on the calendar for years to come?
